SYNOPSYS

In Palmi, Calabria, during the celebration of the Varia, a little girl is chosen to climb a seventeen-meter-high sacred float to represent the assumption of the Madonna. The documentary follows three little girls vying for this role, exploring the contrast between sacred and profane.

The Varia was recognized intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2013.
